Using Pinterest as a Job-Search and Branding Tool
Read this, I wonder if Pinterest thought about this when they created it.
I would agree it could be another tool for jobseekers if used correctly.
LA Times: Lucky magazine hosts conference about business of fashion blogging
This article is super interesting. Who knew, that one day blogging about your interests could land you a job. Not just any job but being paid to blog. Social Media is continuously becoming more of a standard way to get your brand out there. Another yet “free” form of marketing but I never thought a ordinary blogger could be looked upon for a job. Let’s face it , I may have assumed or hoped but didn’t know it was to this extent. This just shows how important the consumers opinion is in selling, especially when they are writing about the products they love. Check out how blogging is taking the fashion industry and more.
City Pages: Top 20 Best Minnesota Musicians
There are some great musicians on this list!
I get that America’s body size has changed but irritated with the brand I love.
I am not going to say that this is to rant about how I can’t find clothes. Before I begin this , this knowledge and article isn’t only about my personal experience but more the changing retail industry and fashion. I even spoke with my friend who is a fashion designer and she tried to explain more. I’ll get to that later.
Ever since I was 16 (ten yrs..wow) I shopped at this one particular brand and loved it. It become part of my style and I even worked there about 4 years ago. I noticed that not only were the trends of fashion changing but so were the sizes. I feel that if you are a 0 or an 8 or 10 or whatever you may be , you share the same frustration.
First what happened is they changed their pants. I wasn’t able to find pants for quite some time until they came out with another style. I was content at the time because I could still find tops there and dresses. Since then the sizing has changed twice (at least that I am aware). Once when I was working there, people kept having to drop a size in their pants. It was great unless they were tiny and we didn’t have anything smaller , but that is besides the point. The irritating thing was working in the dressing rooms and hearing women speak so “matter of fact” about how they lost weight. I am sure some had but what broke my heart is when the friend they had with, had to say the truth or lied to their face. You could tell by their expression and as they glanced at me that they weren’t telling the truth. I think we women want to know if whatever we are trying on is flattering and we most certainly don’t like lies. That was about three years ago.
Now, this same brand has changed the sizing again and for example I have to go down a size and my friend who is a few sizes bigger than me had to drop a size as well. I am sure that most people find it flattering but it is irritating. I understand, in the fashion world that the sizing has changed over the years. As a loyal customer, you would think they would do better at correcting their sizing issue. The reason why , what if someone can’t find their size anymore? If you want people to drop a size give some xxs , for those that were an xs! If you can possibly maintain your sizes I think people will be happier. If you do go up, same thing provide a wider spectrum of sizes. The consumer wants to be able to purchase anything they like. A loyal consumer will get disappointed and leave.
I only hope that retail stores and the fashion world comes to an agreement because I want to continue to buy from the brands I love. I am sure I am not the only women who thinks this. In the mean time all we can do is explore for the next brand or trend. Could it be that these brands are just going to be a trend for some people? In other words, you find what you like and then move on to a different brand. You would lose brand loyalty. All that I ask for is, that any brand be careful as you make the transition to different sizing. Perhaps don’t switch it up too much at once, it is irritating and disappointing when you don’t find something in the store you always have purchased from.
(The reason the brand isn’t mentioned here is because it isn’t just about ONE brand. I have heard the same issue from a few others regarding different brands. This is regarding retail and fashion industry need for agreement)
Billboard: Dick Clark, American Music Icon, Dead at 82
A great article about a great man, entrepreneur, radio and TV icon! A man who helped pave the way for many African American Artists that couldn’t be heard anywhere during a time of racism/discrimination. He was “American Top 40” “Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve” “American Bandstand” and more, May he R.I.P.

Facebook Buys Instagram for $1 Billion
Hold up .. You may want to read this:
As a user on Facebook and Instagram I I only hope that they do keep Instagram a separate entity. It is the simplicity and creativity that sets Instagram apart from other social networking. I am also weary that if Facebook bought it , will they try upgrades that equal chaos or lack of organization? Such as some of the Facebook changes over the past few years. We shall see. As an avid social networking user I only hope instagram stays close to its core; an avenue to be creative and share photos
